CompTIA ANZ Channel Community Launches

As you may have already seen in the press, CompTIA, the largest non-profit IT Channel Trade Association in the world, have launched a channel community here in ANZ. This Community is dedicated to local technology resellers, service providers, distributors, vendors and channel associates. It seeks to be the voice of the entire ANZ IT channel and aims to develop a forum where all IT channel players can participate for the purpose of improving and shaping the future of the ANZ Channel and the broader IT industry.

Channel Dynamics are proud to have been engaged by CompTIA to enable and facilitate the establishment of this community and the associated resources here in ANZ. The community will provide its members with forums for discussion, thought leadership, Education and resources on best practise and technology trends among many other things

The CompTIA ANZ Channel Community will run their first initiative by way of a Community Meeting in Sydney on August 18th. This meeting will be focused on discussing how the channel can best navigate the business challenges that many are facing with the transition to Cloud and Managed Service business models. The event will host key note speakers and partner round table sessions as well as provide a fantastic networking opportunity to all who attend.

Volume Partners - Selection vs. Collection

Over the last few years, Channel Dynamics has conducted many research projects around understanding problems relating to the partner ecosystem. In many instances, the research highlighted that vendors were not focusing enough on recruiting the right partners, or that partners were being on-boarded in a haphazard manner. In other words, anyone could join the partner program and partners were largely left to their own devices. We highlighted the dangers of "collecting" partners rather than "selecting" them in a previous article.

The focus of that original article was based on building a channel for a "Value" vendor looking at recruiting VARs. Budget 2015 Analysts Give Thumbs Up To Strategic IT Investment

The recent announcement of the 2015 Budget appears to offer some very good news for the IT industry for the first time in a good while. The government has set aside over $250 million to commence its digital transformation, which includes improving on a number of existing initiatives and launching a range of new ones. Analysts are saying it is the first time we are seeing funding allocated for strategic investment in IT, which is great news on many levels.

This article details the budget spending allocation and includes comments from our own Cam Wayland on what this budget may mean for the IT Channel. Cam believes that the budget and the tax incentives offered for SMB sized organisations around IT spending points towards some great opportunities for the Channel.
