Until You Have Productivity Skills Productivity Tools Are Useless

We are all looking to get the most out of each and every day be it in our personal lives or our professional lives. Organisations are also looking to get the most out of their staff each and every day, they want to ensure that productivity levels (and ultimately profit levels) are high.

This article by Maura Thomas talks about the vast range of productivity tools that we now have at our disposal for both personal use and within our organisations, all of which are designed to make a task easier and faster to complete. It goes on to propose however that without first addressing the processes related to the task you are trying to make more efficient, these tools are actually not that helpful and in some cases might even be redundant.

The suggestion is that the first thing you need to look at when improving efficiencies is what problem you are trying to solve and then what work flow processes you currently have in place. By first reviewing these two things, you might find you can improve productivity without a new piece of software.
